Field Trip Saturday April 25th KIna and Rabbit Island Leader: Dave Briggs Exploration of the Moutere Gravels including their originn, date, sedimentary features, fossils and faults. Plus (time permitting) a look at evidence for coastal change in the Nelson Bays. Grade: easy. Club Meeting Thursday, April 16th 19.00 Waimea Room A&P Grounds, Richmond A mixed programme of talks, presentations, videos and discussions of recent finds, field excursions and discoveries by members. Includes an illustrated presentation on the use of lidar to study geological features, and a hands-on session and discussion on 'How to Look at Rocks!' Bring along rock specimens or photographs of rocks that you'd like to discuss - plus any interesting finds or field work mementoes from recent trips. If you wish to present a talk please bring any illustrations/graphics (preferably as a Powerpoint file) on a memory stick. Projects and studiesWe organise and run projects to investigate the local geology. Our current project is focused on the Triassic rocks of the Wakefield area.
